Ash Wednesday Service

February 12, 2008

For those who were not able to come to the Ash Wednesday Service, this was truely a powerful service and so inspiring. Kenny Stephens was at his best at the organ, as he usually is, and the message given by Horace was very meaningful. I am thinking we should start taping the entire services for our shut -ins and those who would like to purchase the tapes- here is something to think about for the Youth Fund. Lorraine Cooke

Changes on Youth Trip

August 2, 2007

The trip to Schlitterbahn by the youth has been postponed from Friday Aug 3rd until Sat Aug 11th tentatively. Keep watching this spot for any changes. Schlitterbahn was closed earlier this week due to high water in the river from recent rain. More rain was expected through the weekend of the third.

Welcome to Our New Blog

July 31, 2007

The purpose of this blog is to communicate with the people that attend our church ( and those that don’t).

We will be posting our church newsletters and bulletins. Please forgive the strange formatting in the first ones we post. Copying and pasting from Word and other word processoring programs results in strange formatting. Until we learn how to do things correcting, we ask for your indulgence.

Photographs can be posted in this type blog and we intend to do so. Several things I have learned in the past couple of days while learning how to use this blog include:

  • We have 50megs of storage for uploads so files need to be as small as they can be made.
  • Files directly from a digital camera are too large in two ways. The file size is too large and the format is “too large” and keeps the file from sizing properly on the posts here.
  • So we need to use photo editing software to reduce file size and better format the images before they are uploaded here.

Here are some links to the wordpress FAQ which give some tips on posting images.

http://faq.wordpress.com/tag/images/

Many thousands of other tips on using this blog are found at the wordpress FAQ

http://faq.wordpress.com/

We hope to keep the upcoming events area and prayer list as up to date as we can. We will need everyone’s help in doing that. Categories for posts that you can’t see yet because there are no posts in them include:

  • Youth Happenings
  • Newsletters
  • Calendar
  • Devotionals
  • Pastor’s Commentary
  • Photographs
  • Sunday School Classes
  • UM Women
  • UM Men
  • Methodist - for happenings and news in our denomination and Christianity in general.

If you have anything you want to contribute to the blog or if you want to help in maintaining the blog, please get in touch with the church office or me and we will figure out how to get in on here.
