“My Hope is Built”  UMH #368 (vs 1,2,4)

Refrain:  On Christ the sol-id rock I stand, all oth-er ground is sink-ing sand; all oth-er ground is sink-ing sand.

Vs 2:  When dark-ness veils his love-ly face, I rest on his un-chang-ing grace.  In ev-ery high and storm-y gale, my an-chor holds with-in the veil.

Repeat Refrain

Vs 4:  When he shall come with trum-pet sound, O may I then in him be found!  Dressed in his righ-teous-ness a-lone, fault-less to stand be-fore the throne!

Repeat Refrain

“How Firm a Foundation:  UMH #529 (vs 1,2,4)

Vs. 1:  How firm a foun-da-tion, ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in his ex-cel-lent word!  What more can he say than to you he hath said, to you who for ref-uge to Je-sus have fled?

Vs2:  “Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dis-mayed, for I am thy God and will still give thee aid; I’ll strength-en and help thee, and cause thee to stand up-held by my high-teous, om-nii-po-tent hand.

Vs. 4:  “When through fi-ery tri-als thy path-ways shall lie, my grace, all-suf-fi-cient, shall be thy sup-ply; the flame shall not hurt thee; I on-ly de-sign thy dross to con-sume, and thy gold to re-fine.

JOYS AND CONCERNS

Pastoral Prayer/Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*THE AFFIRMATION OF FAITH      Delbert Dearing

A Statement of Faith  UMH #883

We are not alone, we live in God’s world.  We believe in God:  who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit.  We trust in God.  We are called to be the church:  to celebrate God’s presence, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope.  In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us.  We are not alone.  Thanks be to God.  Amen.

*SONGS OF PRAISE

“Surely the Presence of the Lord”  UMH #328
Sure-ly the pres-ence of the Lord is in this place; I can feel his might-y pow-er and his grace.  I can hear the brush of an-gels’ wings, I see glo-ry on each face; sure-ly the pres-ence of the Lord is in this place.  Repeat

“Holy Ground”

We are standing, on Holy ground, And I know that there are angels all around.  Let us praise, Jesus now.  We are standing in His presence on Holy Ground.

“Fear Not”

*HYMN OF INVITATION

“Be Still, My Soul”  UMH #534 (us 1,3)

Vs. 1:  Be still, my soul:  the Lord is on your side.  Bear pa-tient-ly the cross of grief or pain; leave to your God to or-der and pro-vide; in ev-ery change God faith-ful will re-main.  Be still, my soul:  your best, your heaven-ly friend through thorn-y ways leads to a joy-ful end.

Vs. 3:  Be still, my soul:  the hour is has-tening on when we shall be for-ev-er with the Lord, when dis-ap-point-ment, grief, and fear are gone, sor-row for-got, love’s pur-est joys re-stored.  Be still, my soul:  when change and tears are past, all safe and bless-ed we shall meet at last.
