*SONGS OF PRAISE
“Victory in Jesus” (UMH #370))
Vs. 1  “ I heard an old, old story, how a Savior came from glory, how he gave his life on Calvary to save a wretch like me; I heard about his groaning, of his precious blood’s atoning, then I repented of my sins and won the victory.”

Chorus: O victory in Jesus, my Savior forever! He sought me and bought  me with his redeeming blood; he loved me ere I knew him, and all my love is due him; he plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood.

Vs. 2 I heard about his healing, of his cleansing power revealing, how he made the lame to walk again and caused the blind to see; and then I cried, “Dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit,” and somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory.        Repeat Chorus:

         “Shine, Jesus Shine”
Vs. 1  Lord, the light of Your love is shining, In the midst of the darkness shining; Jesus, Light of the world, shine upon us, Set us free by the truth You now bring us; Shine on me.  Shine on me.

Chorus:  Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father’s glory; Blaze, Spirit blaze, set our hearts on fire.  Flow, river flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy; Send forth Your Word, Lord, and let there be light.

Vs. 2  Lord, I come to your awesome presence, From the shadows into Your radiance; By the blood I may enter Your brightness; Search me, try me, consume all my darkness; Shine on me.  Shine on me.
Repeat Chorus:
“Change My Heart, O God”    (1x)
Change my heart, O God, make it ever true; Change my heart, O God, may I be like You.  You are the Potter, I am the clay; Mold me and make me, this is what I pray.  Change my heart, O God, make it ever true; Change my heart, O God, may I be like You.

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

September 2, 2007 14th Sunday after Pentecost

PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP Kenny Stephens
GREETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Delbert Dearing

*SONGS OF PRAISE

“Christ for the World We Sing” (vs. 1,3 UMH #568)

Christ for the world we sing, the world to Christ we bring, with loving zeal; the poor, and them that mourn, the faint and overborne, sin-sick and sorrow-worn whom Christ doth heal.

Christ for the world we sing, the world to Christ we bring, with one accord; with us the work to share, with us reproach to dare, with us the cross to bear, for Christ our Lord.
“Lord, Whose Love Through Humble Service” (vs.1,2,3 UMH #581)

Lord, whose love through humble service bore the weight of human need, who upon the cross, forsaken, offered mercy’s perfect deed: we, your servants, bring the worship- not of voice alone, but heart, consecrating to your purpose every gift that you impart.
Still your children wander homeless; still the hungry cry for bread; still the captives long for freedom; still in grief we mourn our dead. As, O Lord, your deep compassion- healed the sick and freed the soul, use the love your Spirit kindles still to save and make us whole.

As we worship, grant us vision, till your love’s revealing light- in its height and depth and greatness dawns upon our quickened sight, making known the needs and burdens- your compassion bids us bear, stirring us to tireless striving your abundant life to share.
“Spirit of the Living God” (UMH #393)

Spirit of the living God, fall a-fresh on me. Spirit of the living God, fall a-fresh on me. Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me. Spirit of the Living God, fall a-fresh on me.
